A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies allow a site to recognise your browser across page loads and, in some cases, across visits. Related technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage (key–value data stored in the browser without being transmitted with every request), pixels, and SDK identifiers. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of these unless stated otherwise.
Cookies may be first-party (set by cleverpocketbrowsng.living) or third-party (set by another domain whose resources appear on our pages, such as an embedded map). They may be session cookies, deleted when you close the browser, or persistent, remaining until they expire or you delete them.
We operate a consent-first model. When you first arrive, nothing beyond strictly necessary storage is written to your device. These help us understand, in aggregate, which hotel reviews and journal articles readers find useful, how far down a page they read, and which outbound hotel links are clicked. We use a privacy-preserving analytics provider hosted within the EU; IP addresses are truncated before storage and we do not build cross-site profiles.

We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media tracking pixels or data brokers on this Site.

Please note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may prevent the contact form from submitting and will cause the consent banner to reappear on every page load, because the record of your choice cannot be stored.
Our analytics provider honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser transmits one; we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out of analytics and functional storage. Because there is still no agreed industry standard for the older Do Not Track (DNT) header, we do not rely on it, but our default no-tracking-before-consent behaviour achieves the same outcome.
Consent records are retained for twelve months, after which we will ask you again. Analytics data is retained in aggregate for fourteen months and is not linked to an identifiable individual. This policy is reviewed at least annually and whenever we add or remove a third-party service.
